Commitments, Milestones & What’s Next

You've Come Further Than You Think

Congratulations on making it this far!!!!

This section is about recognizing your progress and deciding what comes next.

When most people begin walking, their first goal isn’t a 5K, a marathon, or a fitness challenge. Their first goal is often much simpler.

Can I make it to the end of the block?
Can I walk for five minutes?
Can I do this again tomorrow?

If you’ve completed the Step Up Challenge, you’ve already done something important. You’ve begun building a habit of movement. Moving more than you may have in years. You’ve shown yourself that you can make a commitment and follow through.

That’s worth recognizing. You’ve earned this moment.

Sometimes we become so focused on the next goal that we forget to acknowledge the progress we’ve already made.
Before you focus on the next goal, take a moment to appreciate how far you’ve already come.

Recognize Your Milestones

Not every milestone comes with a medal.

Some of the most meaningful milestones are the ones nobody else sees.

Maybe you completed your first 15-minute walk.

Maybe you walked consistently for an entire month.

Maybe you discovered a trail you love.

Maybe you started choosing movement instead of staying on the couch.

Maybe you simply proved to yourself that you could begin.

Every milestone matters.

Every step forward deserves recognition.

Take time to notice your progress.

Confidence is built one milestone at a time.

Choose Your Next Commitment

The Step-Up Challenge was designed as a starting point. Now you get to decide what comes next.

You don’t have to rush. You don’t have to advance before you’re ready. You simply choose the commitment that feels right for you.

Level 1:
• 15 minutes
• 4 days per week
• 21 active walking days within one month

Level 2:
• 30 minutes
• 4 days per week
• 21 active walking days within one month

Level 3:
• 45 minutes
• 4 days per week
• 21 active walking days within one month

Your next commitment should challenge you without overwhelming you.

The goal is growth, not burnout.

Celebrate Your Progress

Collage of meaningful ways to celebrate progress on a walking and wellness journey, including enjoying a mountain overlook, journaling, receiving a massage, eating a healthy meal, taking a vacation, purchasing new walking gear, and reflecting on personal accomplishments.

Celebration doesn’t have to be expensive.

Sometimes it’s as simple as acknowledging what you’ve accomplished.

Ideas include:

✓ New walking shirt

✓ New pair of walking socks

✓ New trail adventure

✓ Massage

✓ Day trip

✓ New audiobook

✓ Favorite healthy meal

✓ Journal entry about your progress

Choose rewards that support the life you’re building.

Explore New Challenges

For some walkers, the next step may be participating in an event.

Local 5Ks are a great way to celebrate your progress and experience the energy of a walking community.

Many events welcome walkers of all speeds and experience levels.

You don’t need to be fast.

You don’t need to finish first.

You only need to show up and walk to your next finish line.

A finish line is simply another milestone on your journey.

What Happens Next?

There is no single path from here.

Some continue building consistency.

Some increase their walking time.

Some sign up for events.

Some explore new trails.

Some work with a coach.

Some simply keep walking.

The important thing is that you keep moving forward.

The next step is yours to choose.
